Apexx Log - Folate (L-5-MTHF / Quatrefolic®)

Category: Water-soluble vitamin
Form Used in Apexx01: L-5-MTHF (Quatrefolic®)
Dose per Serving: 400 µg
Verification: Independent EU laboratory testing for identity, purity, stability

What Folate Is

Folate is the collective term for a group of water-soluble B-vitamins involved in one-carbon metabolism, an essential biochemical system supporting DNA synthesis, amino acid conversion, and cellular function.

Most dietary folate must be converted into its active form, L-5-methyltetrahydrofolate (5-MTHF). However, conversion efficiency varies between individuals due to genetic differences in the MTHFR enzyme.

Using the active form bypasses that variability.

Why Folate Is Included in Apexx01

Folate plays a central role in foundational physiology and supports multiple EFSA-recognised functions.

It is included because it contributes to:

  • normal homocysteine metabolism

  • normal psychological function

  • normal blood formation

  • normal immune system function

  • reduction of tiredness and fatigue

  • normal amino acid synthesis

Folate is a structural ingredient. It interacts with other B-vitamins to support biochemical systems that operate quietly in the background every day.

Why This Form: L-5-MTHF (Quatrefolic®)

Quatrefolic® delivers folate in its bioactive methylated form, bypassing the need for enzymatic conversion.

This form is used because:

  • it is directly usable by the body

  • it is stable in multi-nutrient blends

  • it avoids interindividual differences in folate metabolism

  • it passes identity and purity testing with precision

Quatrefolic® is the most predictable and verifiable form for a daily protocol.

Why This Dose: 400 µg

The dose aligns with:

  • EFSA-authorised functional thresholds

  • standard nutritional reference values

  • long-term daily use safety

  • synergy with Vitamin B12, B6, and choline

This amount is sufficient to support normal physiological processes without exceeding necessary intake.

EFSA-Recognised Nutritional Functions of Folate

Folate contributes to:

  • normal homocysteine metabolism

  • normal psychological function

  • normal blood formation

  • normal immune system function

  • normal cell division

  • normal amino acid synthesis

  • reduction of tiredness and fatigue

How Folate Works Inside the Full Formula

Folate interacts with:

  • Vitamin B12 → methylation and red blood cell formation

  • Vitamin B6 → homocysteine pathways

  • Choline → methyl group metabolism

  • Magnesium → enzyme activation

These interactions help maintain biochemical stability.
Folate supports foundational metabolism, not acute effects.

Why It Belongs in a Complete Daily Formula

A core daily protocol must support the systems that remain unseen, cellular turnover, methylation, amino acid conversion, and metabolic regulation. Folate sits at the center of those networks.

It is essential for a formula designed for consistency and foundation.

Verification & Testing

Each lot of L-5-MTHF undergoes:

  • identity testing

  • purity verification

  • stability analysis

  • CoA documentation

Quatrefolic® batches are independently verified before production.
